World of Warcraft's new player-housing system allows for all kinds of creativity, and soon some of Azeroth's best interior decorators will go head-to-head to show what's possible.
Blizzard announced it will be hosting a new competition called Azeroth Interiors starting on February 17, where six teams of two will compete to build awe-inspiring homes that best exemplify "the spirit of Azeroth and World of Warcraft."
Each team will consist of a "Homeowner" and "Builder" who will work together to dream, design, and then build their Azerothian dream house. After the homes are built, a team of judges will livestream walk throughs of each house and determine who wins the ultimate prize--a Zillow real-estate listing for their virtual home.
The actual competition will take part over multiple days across three phases. For those who want to watch, it will all be broadcast live on the official World of Warcraft Twitch and YouTube channels.
For those who can't get enough of customizing and building their house in Azeroth, Blizzard is promising plenty of updates on that front in the coming months. Future housing features Blizzard said it's working on include the addition of Guild Halls, the option to co-decorate a house with another player, the ability to display pets and mounts, and a way for players to share their creations via an import and export system.
Housing came to WoW early for those who preordered its upcoming Midnight expansion. Midnight launches March 2, and will reimagine the Blood Elf lands of Quel'thalas as well as introduce new zones for players to explore as they seek to put a stop to Xal'atath's Void invasion. Meanwhile, Midnight's pre-patch is live now, bringing a new Demon Hunter specialization, major add-on changes, balance updates, and more to Blizzard's MMORPG.
